CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE INVESTIGATION

Certificate of Compliance violations typically occur if equipment was installed without the required permits and/or documentation.

A Certificate of Compliance, formerly called Equipment Use Permit, is a document issued by the NYC Department of Buildings to be displayed at the equipment and affirms that the equipment was permitted and installed according to code.

Remedies for this violation can involve investigating whether Certificates of Compliance or Equipment Use Permits exist on file so they can be properly displayed as required.

Other remedies involve creating and filing the necessary documents with the Department of Buildings so a Certificate of Compliance can be issued.
